About Pinelli's

Bill Pinelli started with a single restaurant in 1988, when on Columbus Day of that year, Pinelli’s 'Deli By Day and Café at Night' in West Warwick opened its doors. With a lifelong love of food and a heritage of flavorful Italian cooking from his family’s kitchen, he went into the restaurant business after a successful career in hairstyling.

Recipes from the original menu such as Gloria’s Spaghetti Pie, created by Bill’s mother-in-law, Gloria Barbato -are still remembered fondly and requested today.

Bill went on to open Italian restaurants, casual pubs and elegant casual eateries throughout Rhode Island.

Over Italian toast and mortadella at his original restaurant, Bill Pinelli summed up his business philosophy, “We have always been a family operation.” In fact, numerous Pinelli family members have worked at Bill Pinelli’s restaurants over the years.

The management style is clearly hands-on. Bill Pinelli sums up the secret of the restaurant group’s success. “We just went out and ran the restaurant every day.”
